# Circumstances of Establishment
The IML(Intelligent Modeling Laboratory) was founded
in 1996 as a facility available to students from
the University of Tokyo. It was funded by a scheme
in the 1996 revised government budget designed
to promote creative research and development
in graduate schools.
This laboratory has two main purposes: to nurture
the creative talent of young people and help them
realize their plans and to promote original research
and developments for the start of new business
ventures. Our main theme is "research into artifacts using intelligent modeling" (see below for further details). Other plans include active exchange and with
other institutions outside the university, the
promotion of research activities by sending researchers
abroad and collaboration with invited and visiting
researchers from over seas and with part-time researchers. |
